A TV anime adaptation of The Case Study of Vanitas has been announced. It will be produced by Bones and is scheduled to air this summer.
The TV project is based on the ongoing manga series by Jun Mochizuki, who is renowned for his work on Pandora Hearts. The Case Study of Vanitas is a steampunk story set in Paris in the 19th century, and follows a vampire named Noe as he searches for the Book of Vanitas, a grimoire known to cast a spell on his kind. An unexpected episode leads to him meeting Vanitas, a human claiming to be a doctor specialising in vampires who also happens to be the owner of the book.
The anime is directed by Tomoyuki Itamura, with series composition by Deko Akao and character design & animation supervision by Yoshiyuki Ito. It was also revealed that Natsuki Hanae and Kaito Ishikawa are playing the roles of Vanitas and Noe respectively.
A teaser visual designed by Ito and video featuring the opening theme song by sasanomaly provide a sneak peek of what is to come.
