One of Dragon Ball’s most interesting and rewarding details is that the franchise covers multiple decades and has established a comprehensive timeline that spans across Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball Super. However, there are still pockets in this timeline that have been left untouched and the anime’s tendency to indulge in lengthy time-skips has given the franchise the opportunity to turn the clock backwards and fill in these gaps when it makes sense to do so. Dragon Ball Super, for instance, is set entirely within the ten-year period in Dragon Ball Z that separates Kid Buu’s defeat and the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament.
The anime’s newest series, Dragon Ball DAIMA, has also adhered to this philosophy and opted to tell a story that’s set before Dragon Ball Super begins, rather than after. Dragon Ball DAIMA’s placement on the timeline means that some of Dragon Ball Super’s most prominent characters, such as Beerus, aren’t present. That being said, it’s still possible for DAIMA to feature early introductions for several Dragon Ball Super characters due to the anime’s broad scope and fearless journey into the mysterious Demon Realm.

Dragon Ball DAIMA debuted a list of new and exciting characters that highlight the mystical premise of this latest entry in the franchise.
10 Jaco The Galactic Patrolman Has Gone On Countless Adventures Throughout Space
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 20, “A Warning From Jaco! Frieza And 1,000 Soldiers Close In”; Manga Debut: Jaco The Galactic Patrolman, Chapter 1, “The Galactic Patrolman Goes To Earth”
Jaco the Galactic Patrolman is an Akira Toriyama creation who was originally introduced in his own manga, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, before it was eventually revealed that this series is set in the same universe as Dragon Ball. Not only does Jaco become a recurring character in Dragon Ball Super, but Goku, Vegeta and many other heroes become temporary Galactic Patrol members during an all-hands on deck assault against Moro and his Galactic Bandit Brigade. Jaco is guilty of his cowardice getting the better of him, but he’s earned his way into this prestigious police force.
Jaco’s missions and bounties have taken him far and wide, so it’s not impossible that he would have business to attend to in the Demon Realm. Even if Jaco is too scared to personally enter the Demon Realm, it wouldn’t be a stretch to see him setting up shop outside Warp-sama in an attempt to gain intel. The Galactic Patrol does their best to stay on top of all the universe’s villainous power plays, which means that they’d likely be very interested in Gomah, Degesu, and Neva’s attack on Earth and hijacking the planet’s guardian.
9 Omni-King Zeno Watches Over The Entire Multiverse
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 40, “A Decision At Last! Is The Winner Beerus? Or Is It Champa?”; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 13, “The Winning Universe Is Decided!”
Dragon Ball has consistently introduced higher tiers of celestial deities and the anime has come a long way from when Kami was considered to be the strongest representation of God. Dragon Ball Super really goes for broke in this department through the introduction of Gods of Destruction, Angels, Grand Priests, and Zeno the Omni-King. Zeno is the strongest being in existence and he has the power to casually erase an entire universe. Zeno is in charge of watching over the entire multiverse, but his importance is frequently undercut by his playful and unassuming nature.

Dragon Ball Super’s cast frequently interrupts some heated battles, so many of these rivalries remain inconclusive.
Zeno and Goku quickly hit it off in Dragon Ball Super, much to everyone else’s concern, and DAIMA could indicate that Zeno has actually been watching over Goku for longer than he’s realized. Dabura’s death causes some major machinations in the Demon Realm, which would still technically be under Zeno’s purview. Dragon Ball DAIMA establishes that the Demon Realm doesn’t exist in Universe 7, but it still seems to exist in the grander framework that’s part of Zeno’s dominion. There could be a sequence that briefly checks in with Zeno as he learns about the changes that have been afoot in the Demon Realm. He could even scold Warp-sama for his role in these events.
8 Granolah & Monaito Are Wandering Warriors Who Have Faced Horrible Hardships
Anime Debut: N/A; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 67, “Happy Endings…And Then…” (Granolah); Chapter 69, “The Evolution Of Planet Cereal” (Monaito)
Dragon Ball Super’s Granolah the Survivor Saga is some of the manga’s strongest material and the introduction of several memorable characters. Granolah is the last of his Cerealian people, the likes of whom were wiped out by past Saiyan conquests. Granolah seeks revenge against the people who killed his mother and ravaged his planets, all while he’s accompanied by a sage elderly Namekian, Monaito. Granolah is initially introduced as an enemy who stoops to extreme measures with Planet Cereal’s Dragon Balls in order to become Universe 7’s strongest.
However, Granolah soon realizes that Goku and Vegeta are not his true enemies and he decides to align with them in the grander battle against the Heeter Force’s Gas. Before his introduction, Granolah has been traveling across the galaxy as a loyal member of the Heeter Force. Dragon Ball DAIMA could indulge in a glorified fan service cameo by briefly showing Granolah and Monaito on one of their many journeys in space. Fans have been eager to see Dragon Ball Super’s Granolah the Survivor Saga get animated, but a brief appearance in DAIMA would at least show audiences that this is still in the cards.
7 Universe 6’s Champa Is An Unscrupulous God Of Destruction Who Is Typically In Opposition To Beerus
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 18, “I’m Here, Too! Training Commences On Beerus’ World”; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 2, “Goku Defeated”
Universe 7’s Beerus is Goku’s first experience with a God of Destruction. Beerus’ appearance in DAIMA might lead to some chronology inconsistencies, but it’s still possible that his Universe 6 counterpart, Champa, shows up in the new anime. Champa is Beerus’ twin brother and he is most commonly used as a source of frustration for his fellow God of Destruction sibling. Beerus would still presumably be lost in a deep slumber during Dragon Ball DAIMA’s events.
However, there are ample opportunities to briefly shine a light on Champa and show what he’s up to during all this. It wouldn’t make a ton of sense to have Champa interact with Goku or any of his party, but he could potentially intercept Kibito’s spaceship to Warp-sama and the Demon Realm. Champa might also view Gomah’s rogue Dragon Ball wish as a potential threat and use this as his inspiration to go after the Super Dragon Balls for additional support.
6 Whis Is A Near-Omnipotent Angel With A Glorious Grasp On Existence
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 1, “A Peacetime Reward Who Gets the 100,000,000 Zeni?!”; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball SD, Bonus Chapter 1, “Battle Of Gods SD”
Dragon Ball Super eases its audience into the concept of a multiverse and powerful Gods with Beerus and Whis, the latter of which is Universe 7’s Angel. Beerus is in a deep sleep when Dragon Ball DAIMA takes place, but Whis still has a finger on the universe’s pulse. Angels are forbidden by Angel Law to intervene in the universe’s natural acts. However, it’s unlikely that Whis wasn’t aware of the calamity that happened on Earth and the heroes’ subsequent sojourn to the Demon Realm.

Goku and the other Z-Warriors have been weakened after being turned into kids in Dragon Ball DAIMA.
Dragon Ball DAIMA expands on the Supreme Kai’s backstory and reveals that the Supreme Kai are a member of the Glind race and that they naturally come from the Demon Realm. Angels may inevitably share a similar connection to the Demon Realm that triggers Whis’ attention during its recent power vacuum. It’d be unlikely that Goku and Whis actually meet in Dragon Ball DAIMA. That being said, Whis’ Angel powers are substantial enough that he’d easily be able to wipe Goku’s memory and have him unaware that he’s ever met such an important person.
5 Master Zuno Is The Ultimate Omniscient Bearer Of Multiverse Data
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 31, “Off To See Master Zuno! Find Out Where The Super Dragon Balls Are!”; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 7, “Warriors From Universe 6”
Dragon Ball Super gets so consumed with prolific celestial players like the Gods of Destruction, Angels, Grand Priest, and Zeno that it’s easy for someone like Master Zuno to slip through the cracks. Zuno is a crucial reservoir of knowledge and he’s reported to know every single thing that’s happened in the multiverse. Zuno is magnanimous enough to offer his visitors the luxury of asking him a limited number of questions that he’ll answer.
Zuno is often visited regarding Super Dragon Ball intel, but Oil and Macki also pick Zuno’s brain regarding the Saiyans. Dragon Ball DAIMA could easily include a scene where Zuno observes the Demon Realm’s events and adds to his vast omniscience. Additionally, Dragon Ball Super establishes that Zuno often contacts Shin whenever he’s faced with threats or wicked interlopers. The relationship between these two characters makes it even easier to picture a brief Zuno appearance in DAIMA. Perhaps Zuno alerts Shin that Kibito faces trouble during his efforts to enter the Demon Realm.
4 The Oracle Fish Is An Unlikely & Unassuming Universal Prophet
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 3, “Where Does The Dream Pick Up? Find The Super Saiyan God!”; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F,’ “Chapter 3”
Dragon Ball never struggles to establish unusual characters, many of whom end up being some of the multiverse’s most important players. Dragon Ball has gotten a lot of mileage out of unassuming individuals who are actually incredible, such as Korin, Bubbles, and Gregory. The Oracle Fish is a more recent addition, but one that is very much cut from the same cloth. The Oracle Fish appears to be Beerus and Whis’ personal seer who tips them off to major machinations that will happen in the near-future.
Most recently, the Oracle Fish dropped crucial intel regarding a colossal shift in power in Universe 7, which ultimately was foreshadowing for the deadly Black Frieza. The Oracle Fish usually isn’t treated like a major character, which is exactly why her appearance in DAIMA would be both unexpected and appreciated. A brief aside to the Oracle Fish, who weighs in on the Demon Realm’s latest changes and what’s in store for the dark dimension, would be easy to include. The Oracle Fish could also be used to properly connect the dots between DAIMA’s end and Super’s start by teasing what’s to come in the already-aired series.
3 Zamasu Is Universe 10’s Supreme Kai Apprentice Who Harbors Disdain For Mortals
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 52, “Master And Pupil Reunited! Gohan And ‘Future’ Trunks!”; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 16, “Future Trunks’s Past”
Zamasu deserves credit for being one of Dragon Ball Super’s most dedicated villains. He teams up with a future version of himself for a comprehensive scheme to wipe all mortals out of existence that involves the use of the Super Dragon Balls in order to steal Goku’s body and gain immortality. Zamasu is the apprentice of Gowasu, Universe 10’s Supreme Kai, who gradually grows more disillusioned with mankind’s continued follies.

Dragon Ball DAIMA’s Demon Realm is What Namek Should Have Been in DBZ
The Demon Realm in Dragon BALL DAIMA is already a richer and more interesting setting than Dragon Ball Z’s Namek.
Dragon Ball DAIMA has given a lot of attention to the Supreme Kai, and the series’ revelation that they originated in the Demon Realm could naturally facilitate a minor appearance from Zamasu. Many Dragon Ball fans have already drawn parallels between Degesu and Zamasu when it comes to their similarly selfish agendas. It would be a lot of fun to learn that Degesu and Zamasu actually know each other. Zamasu’s use of GodTube to watch the universe’s events could also become a viable way for Zamasu to appear as he observes DAIMA’s events from afar.
2 The Heeter Force Are Galactic Interlopers Who Aid Frieza In His Planetary Conquests
Anime Debut: N/A; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 68, “Granolah The Survivor”
Dragon Ball DAIMA spends a lot of time in the Demon Realm, but it also hasn’t shied away from never-before-seen corners of outer space. Dragon Ball Super introduces audiences to Elec, Gas, Oil and Macki, otherwise known as the Heeter Force. The Heeter Force’s role was to broker relationships with the Frieza Force and function as intermediaries for the planets that Frieza would conquer.
The Heeter Force’s biggest mistake is when they attempt to bite off more than they can chew and make a bid for power with the intention of overthrowing Frieza. There’d be a lot of value in getting a look into the Heeter Force’s actions before all this ultimately falls apart in Dragon Ball Super. A simple scene where the Heeter Force discusses their plans for power during Frieza’s death and his army’s dark days would leave fans satisfied.
1 Pride Trooper Jiren Becomes The Tournament Of Power’s Strongest Competitor
Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 85, “The Universes Go Into Action — Each With Their Own Motives”; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 30, “The Man Named Jiren”
Dragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Power introduces dozens of deadly warriors from across the multiverse. Many of these adversaries temporarily challenge Universe 7 in this fierce competition, but none of them are on par with Universe 11’s Jiren. Jiren’s strength is so incredible that it takes the combined efforts of Goku, Frieza, and Android 17 – with previous help from Vegeta – to finally lead to his elimination. Jiren is a bit of a cryptic individual, but Dragon Ball Super outlines that he’s a member of Universe 11’s Pride Trooper police force and that he was met with tragedy during his childhood when a Demon killed his parents, and later, his mentor.
Dragon Ball DAIMA could depict some random Pride Trooper business as a natural way to fit Jiren into the equation. That being said, the character’s connection and grudge with Demons feel like smart material to develop in DAIMA. Dragon Ball DAIMA wouldn’t have to go far in this regard and simply a small appearance from Jiren in the Demon Realm as he searches for his parents’ killer would be satisfying.
