Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 6 Power Ranking

The sixth episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA, “Lightning,” is an action-packed spectacle that changes the anime into something more familiar to most Dragon Ball fans. New techniques and transformations are debuting as Goku’s inevitable fight with Gomah approaches, and the power levels of the characters are skyrocketing. At the same time, heroes and villains alike who aren’t fighters are finding ways to attain strength.

As Goku and Glorio clash in Episode 6 of Dragon Ball DAIMA, the true villain of the anime is revealed. While Gomah and Degesu have been the Z-Warriors’ main targets, Dr. Arinsu may be the true most dangerous villain in the Demon Realm. She, like Panzy, is displaying the power of intelligence, while Bulma finds herself struggling in her efforts to take Vegeta and Piccolo to the Third Demon World.

5 Panzy is Doing Her Best to Keep Goku in Line

Panzy’s Status and Skills Are Already Coming in Handy

Dragon Ball Daima's Panzy disgusted by Goku in Episode 6

Panzy is the only non-combatant among the current Dragon Team. Like Bulma before her, this doesn’t stop her from being essential to the group’s mission. Even with a minimal role in Episode 6, Panzy’s fiery attitude, mechanical genius, and status as a princess are all proving useful.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 6 Features Goku’s First Big Fight & It’s Already A Classic

A very productive Dragon Ball DAIMA episode expands the Demon Realm’s lore and features the anime’s best fight yet as Goku and Glorio square off.

From the start of the episode, the group only have a plane to travel because of Panzy’s father, King Kadan. And while the massive amount of luggage she brings with her causes the plane to crash, she isn’t merely a materialistic princess who couldn’t live without her belongings. Rather, everything she brought with her was an essential item. And, in the aftermath of the crash, Panzy is able to repair the plan in no time at all, and get her and her friends back in the sky.

With this being Panzy’s first episode as a member of the Z-Warriors, it’s also the first opportunity to see how she gels with Goku, Shin, and Glorio. While she’s getting along fine with Shin, she doesn’t think too highly of Glorio’s bad attitude, and she’s infuriated by Goku’s stupidity and awful hygiene. But however annoyed she may be with Goku, Panzy isn’t the one currently starting problems within the party, and is still committed to saving the Demon Realm from Gomah.

Shin Forces a Fight Between Goku and Glorio

Shin spies on Glorio - Dragon Ball DAIMA

The Supreme Kai of Universe 7 continues to be the glue holding the Z-Warriors together. Shin has been suspicious of Glorio since their first meeting in Episode 2, and has caught him in multiple lies. In Episode 6, Shin finally takes steps to get answers about what’s really going on, while also revealing fascinating lore about himself.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Needs to Stop Making Things Too Easy For Goku

DAIMA clearly has no real interest in holding Goku back – the miniature redesign is aesthetic, nothing more.

The night after learning Glorio comes from the First Demon World, Shin questions him about this. In doing so, he discovers that, while Glorio was born in the Third Demon World, he was hired by someone from the First, and was able to get out. With this being the latest strange piece of information he’s learned about Glorio, Shin feigns slumber, and listens in as Glorio walks away from his sleeping team to contact his superior.

Although Shin is only able to hear Glorio’s side of his conversation with Dr. Arinsu, he hears enough to learn that the gun for hire is up to no good. This information makes Shin more suspicious than ever, and he quickly acts to gain further knowledge, without giving away what he knows. When Goku and Glorio argue over who gets to fight the Minotaur, Shin takes advantage of the situation and provokes them into fighting each other so he can gauge Glorio’s strength. If Shin is smart, he won’t let Goku’s humiliation of Glorio stop him from seeing him as a major threat.

3 Glorio Unleashes His Lightning Magic

Glorio’s Allegiance to Dr. Arinsu is Revealed

Episode 6 of Dragon Ball DAIMA is a massive one for Glorio. In the first half, he continues to play the role he has throughout the Shōnen so far, acting as the leader of the Z-Warriors. When Glorio and his companions are halted by the Gendarmerie, he quickly takes charge of the situation, and successfully bluffs their way out of a fight. However, his honesty in revealing himself as a citizen of the First Demon Realm comes back to haunt him later, as it prompts Shin to spy on him, and discover that he’s actually a traitor working for Dr. Arinsu.

When the Dragon Team is approached by the Minotaur, Glorio boldly assumes himself to be nearly as strong as Goku. This rare moment of Glorio losing his cool enables Shin to manipulate him into fighting Goku. In the ensuing battle, Glorio reveals his unique magic to be lightning, which he uses to fight evenly with a handicapped Goku. However, Glorio’s bold assumptions about his power are seemingly proven to be wrong the instant Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan. Glorio’s strongest attack is easily deflected by Goku, and Glorio is left awe-struck as he’s forced to surrender. Glorio still holds an advantageous position, with Goku still trusting him, and his employer being one of the most powerful people in the Demon Realm, but his newfound lack of relative strength may be a wrench in his plans.

2 Goku Transforms into a Super Saiyan to Defeat Glorio

Goku is Still Stronger Than Everyone Around Him

Goku’s actions in Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 6 have changed everything about the anime. For most of it, Goku continues to be the same dumb, hilarious kid he’s been since being de-aged. He antagonizes Glorio by continuing to get his name wrong, possibly deliberately, he goes to the bathroom at an inopportune time, and he earns Panzy’s ire through his poor hygiene. It’s only during his fight with Glorio that Goku’s role in the series evolves.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 6’s Ending is a Huge Disappointment & a Bad Omen

It’s disappointing that DAIMA is doing everything in its power to follow in Dragon Ball GT’s foot steps & leave the supporting cast on the backburner.

Continuing the trend of Goku mocking Glorio, he belittles his strength, and makes the typically calm Majin want to finally shut him up. Goku immediately asserts dominance by choosing to fight with an arm behind his back and, even with him holding back like that, Glorio’s lightning magic is still just barely able to keep pace with him. However, through an extended transformation sequence that wouldn’t be out of place in Dragon Ball Z, Goku reveals he can still turn into a Super Saiyan. Once in this form, his power completely overwhelms Glorio, and enables Goku to force him to surrender.

Goku looks absolutely awesome as he defeats Glorio, but what’s more impressive is how this familiar transformation changes DAIMA completely. Up until to this point, the anime has had a focus on adventure, and Goku’s battles have all served as demonstrations of his creativity and martial arts mastery. Now, like Dragon Ball GT before it, DAIMA appears to be abandoning its initial premise after its first six episodes in favor of something more akin to DBZ.

1 Dr. Arinsu is Pulling All the Strings in Dragon Ball DAIMA

Dr. Arinsu Has Orchestrated Every Major Event in DAIMA

Dr. Arinsu, the older sister of Shin and Degesu, has had one of the smallest roles in Dragon Ball DAIMA among the newly introduced characters. After debuting in Episode 1, Dr. Arinsu seemingly disappeared from the story. However, Episode 6 reveals that she’s been staying in the shadows deliberately, and that everything that’s happened in the anime has gone according to her plans.

As it turns out, Arinsu has been plotting to take over the Demon Realm since Majin Buu killed Dabura. Every move she’s made since fans first met her has been calculated, and largely executed by her mole among the Z-Warriors, Glorio. With the reveal that Glorio has been working for her since the start, his odd presence in Gomah’s throneroom during Episode 1 now makes sense, as he would have entered the castle with her. And with Glorio stringing Goku, the strongest warrior in the universe, along under the pretense that they both wish to save the Demon Realm from Gomah’s cruelty, she’s laid the groundwork for a coup. And for all the suspicions Shin has about Glorio, he has no reason to think he has any connection to his big sister.

All this time, fans have been led to believe that Gomah is the main villain of Dragon Ball DAIMA. WIth this one swerve, it’s now clear that Dr. Arinsu is the true power player among the Demon Realm’s elite. In its 40-year history, Dragon Ball has never featured a woman as a main villain and, while it’s been revealed that all Glinds are genderless, Dr. Arinsu still clearly presents as one. As Arinsu plots to destroy both Goku and Gomah, she’s also destroying the evil glass ceiling.
