Delta Air Lines is the largest carrier by revenue and the second-largest by fleet size and passengers carried. Founded in 1925, it is one of the oldest active airlines. The airline is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and operates scheduled services to over 325 destinations worldwide.

Delta is one of the few airlines that operate the Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. Simple Flying explores the airline’s five busiest A330-900neo routes in April, based on data fromCirium, an aviation analysis company.

5 Los Angeles (LAX) <> London Heathrow (LHR)

ASMs in April: 45.9 million

Delta’s daily service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and the UK’s busiest airport, London Heathrow (LHR), is at the bottom of our list. This late evening Delta flight departs LAX at 20:05 and arrives at LHR at 14:50 the following afternoon after flying for 10 hours and 45 minutes. Its return flight leaves LHR at 16:50 and arrives at LAX the same day at 20:25 local time. The return flight duration clocks in at 11 hours and 35 minutes.

Besides Delta’s single flight, on average, ten other daily flights serve the popular route. US-based legacy carriers American Airlines and United Airlines, as well as UK’s British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, operate multiple daily services between the popular city pair.

4 Los Angeles (LAX) <> Tokyo Haneda (HND)

ASMs in April: 46.2 million

Delta operates a daily service between LAX and Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) using its A330-900neo fleet. The morning flight departs LAX at 09:45 and arrives at HND at 14:00 hours the following afternoon, spending 12 hours and 15 minutes in the sky. The return flight leaves LHR at 16:45 and arrives at LAX the same day at 11:10 local time. The return flight duration clocks in at 10 hours and 25 minutes.

On the route, there are, on average, six other daily flights besides Delta’s. American Airlines and Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) operate twice-daily services, while United and Japan Airlines (JAL) operate a single daily service between the two cities.

3 Seattle (SEA) <> Shanghai, China (PVG)

ASMs in April: 48.2 million

Delta operates a once-daily service between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Shanghai (PVG). This morning long-haul trip departs SEA at 10:55 and arrives at PVG the following afternoon at 15:15 local time after flying for 13 hours and 20 minutes. Its return flight leaves PVG at 17:30 and arrives at SEA the same day at 14:05 local time. The return flight duration is 11 hours and 35 minutes.

No other airline serves the route. However, thanks to the codeshare agreement with Delta, China Southern and China Eastern Airlines advertise the route with their flight numbers.

2 Minneapolis (MSP) <> Tokyo Haneda (HND)

The runner-up on our list is Delta’s Minneapolis (MSP) to HND service, which offers over 50 million ASM in April. The morning Delta flight departs MSP at 11:05 and arrives at HND at 14:20 the following afternoon, traveling for 13 hours and 15 minutes. The return flight leaves HND at 16:05 and arrives at MSP the same day at 14:00 local time—the return flight duration clocks in at 11 hours and 55 minutes.

With only Delta Air Lines serving the route, Vietnam Airlines advertises the route with its codeshare agreement with Delta.

The afternoon flight departs SEA at 13:30 hours and arrives at AMS the following morning at 08:15 local time after flying for 9 hours and 45 minutes. The return flight leaves AMS at 09:00 and arrives at SEA the same day at 10:20 local time.
