This collection of 25+ dairy free muffin recipes has all you need for quick, healthy, dairy-free breakfasts or snacks on-the-go!
Dairy-free food IS delicious!
I’ve been dairy-free for several years now, and at first I was nervous that I would have to give up some of my favorite baked goods. But that’s not the case at all!
If you’re dairy-free like me, you can still enjoy your favorite bakery style muffins at home. With just a few ingredient tweaks, and common ingredients that are easy to find in your local grocery store, you can have fluffy muffins that are moist and full of flavor. And, of course, dairy free!
Some of our reader fave, much-loved recipes are dairy-free. Be sure to check out our full dairy-free recipe collection for more!

🌟 About these recipes
I know how challenging it can be to find just the right dairy free recipe sometimes. I have a whole dairy-free recipe section on the blog to make it easy for you.
And I created this particular collection of the best dairy free muffin recipes because, as a mom, I know how amazing homemade muffins can be. They’re the perfect on-the-go breakfast or snack. My own family loves to bring these dairy-free blueberry muffins as road trip snacks. And, if you have little kids, they’re also a great way to sneak in extra veggies that those kiddos might not eat otherwise!
All of the muffin recipes in this recipe collection are dairy-free. Many of them are full vegan muffins. Some of them are also gluten-free, egg-free, and oil-free — check the description for each one, as they are all different (but again, all dairy free!).
🍽 Serving ideas
Muffins are awesome to bake up on a Sunday or the beginning of the week and incorporate into your meal planning.
👩🏻🍳 Dairy-free baking FAQs
For a primer to cooking dairy-free recipes and my favorite dairy-free food products, be sure to read our Best Products for Dairy-Free Cooking and Baking Guide.
You’ll need a flour (see recipe for specifics); baking soda and/or baking powder; white sugar, brown sugar, or other sweetener like maple syrup or agave nectar; vegetable oil, olive oil, or coconut oil OR vegan butter; eggs (see egg alternatives below); vanilla extract; and your fillings and toppings for the muffin tops.
For dairy-free muffins and other baked goods, I prefer to use almond milk or oat milk. You can also use soy milk, and some recipes call for cashew milk. While I love coconut milk as a substitute in savory dairy free cooking recipes, I haven’t found it to be great in most baking recipes.
If you want to make muffins without eggs, you could use a flax egg or ground flax seed mixed with water as a substitute. I also like using applesauce and mashed bananas as an egg substitute in baked goods.
Allow the muffins to cool down, then store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5-7 days.
Yes! Allow muffins to cool down, then store in a freezer safe ziplock bag or an airtight freezer-safe container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Some of these recipes call for all purpose flour or whole wheat flour, but some are also gluten-free muffin recipes that call for almond flour, coconut flour, general gluten-free flour, or a gluten-free flour blend.

Ready to make these recipes? Here are the kitchen tools and equipment you’ll need. Click on the links to check out my favorite baking tools!
- Measuring cup and spoons – It’s important to measure properly when baking, so a measuring cup and measuring spoons are essential tools.
- Muffin tins – Whether you call it a muffin tin, muffin pan, or cupcake tin/pan, you’ll need at least one full size, 12-cup muffin tin to make these recipes. I find that it helps to have two tins/pans, as most recipes make more than 12 muffins.
- Stand mixer – You’ll need a stand mixer to mix the wet ingredients and then beat in the dry ingredients for the muffin batter. Or, you can use a large mixing bowl with a hand mixer to mix the batter.
- Large mixing bowl – For the dry ingredients, you’ll need a separate large bowl and a sturdy whisk.
- Cookie scoop – I use a large cookie scoop or ice cream scoop to scoop out the muffin batter and fill the muffin cups.
- Cupcake liners – Cute cupcake liners make muffins even more fun! Plus, muffin liners make it easier to release the muffins from the muffin tin.
- Cooling rack – Most of the recipes call for allowing the muffins to cool in the muffin pan first, then transferring to a wire rack to completely cool.
