One Air to add two 777Fs

British cargo airline One Air plans to add two Boeing 777 freighters to its fleet as it seeks further growth in 2025.

The 747-400 freighter operator recently added a third 747-400F with nose-loading capabilities and said it aimed to add a fourth aircraft next year, but did not specify what type it would invest in.

However, Air One, One Air’s general sales agent (GSA), which also works with Moldovan airline AEROTRANSCARGO and Romania-based ROM Cargo, said this week: “In 2025, the commercial fleet marketed by Air One will receive another boost with the planned arrival of two Boeing 777 freighters.”

A source has confirmed to Air Cargo News that it is One Air that plans to add the two 777Fs.

The investment isn’t a surprise diversification from 747F operations. The airline has in the past spoken about the possibility of adding 777Fs to its line up.

One Air also hasn’t shied away from discussing the challenges that come with operating 747Fs. The airline spoke to ACN earlier this year about its efforts to lobby the new UK government to establish a bilateral agreement with the European Union (EU) that would make it easier to source pilots, engineers and maintenance for the aircraft.

One Air has been growing its fleet steadily since it commenced flights with its first 747-400F in July 2023.

The carrier added a second 747F in November 2023 to meet rising demand from China and Hong Kong to Europe.

Meanwhile, it has also moved its UK operating base from Heathrow Airport to East Midlands to benefit from greater slot availability and fewer restrictions around night-time flying.

The airline’s first 12 months of charter operations included flights from airports across the UK. Supporting its client base of freight forwarders, logistics providers, and charter brokers, One Air’s 747s have also served points in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, notably Almaty, Amsterdam, Astana, Châteauroux, Hahn, Hong Kong, Jinan, Larnaca, Maastricht-Aachen, Muscat, Shannon, and Singapore.

Most recently, as well as ad hoc charter flights, One Air has been operating a contract for seven 747F flights a week ex Hong Kong into Europe carrying general cargo.

One Air is now intensifying its efforts in Asia. The airline recently received regulatory approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CCAR-129) to carry out flights to major Chinese airports, including Tianjin (TNA), Zhengzhou (CGO), and Hangzhou (HGH).

The airline has also secured operator approvals from Japan and Malaysia’s aviation authorities.
