TAP Air Portugal Operates 10 Hour Long Airbus A321LR Flight To Africa

A TAP Air Portugal Airbus A321LR performed a 10-hour flight from Maputo to Africa on the 29th of March. Initially, the flight was scheduled to land in Luanda, the flight continued on to another destination and landed in Praia, the capital of Cape Verde.

The Airbus A321LR took off from Maputo, the capital of East Africa’s Mozambique as flight TP9302 at 8:59 local time. 

The aircraft landed in Praia at 19:06 local time, ten hours and eight minutes after departure from Mozambique. The A321LR flew a distance of 4,500 miles, approximately 7,200 km. This was a positioning flight.

This flight was operated by a two-year-old Airbus A321LR, with registration CS-TXA, which was delivered to the Portuguese flag carrier back in April 2019 on lease.

This was the longest flight ever operated on an Airbus A321LR aircraft. Prior to this, Azores Airlines flight from Lisbon to Bogota in Colombia was the longest flight recorded on an A321LR. The flight clocked a distance of 4,678 miles with a flight time of around 9 hours.
