S2 – Ep 39 – New Moon in Cancer with Jupiter: Reset, Refocus and Regenerate

The New Moon in Cancer enters a sign that has also been newly visited by Jupiter. This New Moon might be pulling in a little of that Jupiter in Cancer vibe in new ways. You might be resetting in bigger ways than might be typical under any other New Moon. This New Moon and Jupiter, both in Cancer, are activating short and long term Cancerian themes such as food, security, and home. Neptune and Saturn also have a part to play in this new Moon’s story. Listen to this week’s episode to find out more.

Show Notes

New Moon in Cancer + Jupiter Cazimi

Hi There and welcome back to this week’s show.

There’s a New Moon coming up on June 25, in Cancer so that’s going to be the focus of today’s show. I’ll also be talking about Jupiter conjunct the Sun in Cancer, which is known as cazimi, that’s a very special astro event taking place on June 24, the day before the New Moon.

Just before we dive into that, I want to let you know about my next webinar, which is all about the longer transit of Jupiter in Cancer.  I’ll be talking about how to nourish and thrive with Jupiter in Cancer, sharing tips, techniques and examples to help you make the most of this protective and supportive transit. My Jupiter in Cancer webinar is happening on June 28 – if you can’t make the live event, you’ll still get access to the recording and slides. Pop over to www.kellysastrology.com to register.

Ok so let’s dive into the upcoming New Moon in Cancer.

The New Moon will be on Wednesday June 25 in most locations. It’s at 4 Cancer.

So let’s talk a little about the New Moon itself. The New Moon is just a few days after the solstice, and happening in a sign that Jupiter has just moved into. So there’s a collection of themes here about resetting and refocussing. Maybe even expanding your intentions into new areas.

The New Moon is a gorgeous New Moon to help you nurture and care for yourself and loved ones, and for your home – which might include the place you live, the natural environment around you, even extended out to Earth itself.

So nurturing and caretaking will be important themes. Given the New Moon is in Cancer, and that Jupiter has just begun a 12 month long transit through Cancer, this New Moon is a unique mix of short term beginnings, like those for the next 4 weeks, like a typical new Moon, but it can also help you attune to beginnings for medium term projects, like a fresh start for the next 12 months, to align with the longer Jupiter in Cancer transit.

** Jupiter coming into Cancer is the beginning of a longer trend that invites you into a more expansive and healing point of view, especially around the topics of the Cancer part of your personal chart. This New Moon helps activate that, and can be a time of growing awareness of the feelings, cravings and needs that truly need your attention, not just for the next month, but also for the next 12 months. **

Lunar Themes

This New Moon expresses so many lunar themes – it’s in the sign of the Moon, and of course the ruler of this New Moon is the Moon, which is also in Cancer. So there’s this kind of repeating, endless loop about lunar themes that’s activated.

Lunar themes include the awareness that life is in a constant state of ebb and flow, that reminds us we can’t be constantly productive – that’s more of a solar theme. Rather that we’re more aligned with periods of activity balanced by periods of rest and retreat. During the weeks and months to come, you too might find it easier to modify your schedule to allow for these fluctuating qualities of motivation and drive.

Given that the ruler of this New Moon is the Moon – themes like food, food supply, agriculture and environmental and security matters specific to food production and distribution are likely to be highlighted.

You might experience this on the micro level, of connecting with wisdom that helps you with new rhythms around food preparation and nourishment in your daily life. You might be tuned into or exploring how to support enhanced access to food and essential nourishment for those in your wider community, your country or the world as a whole.

Moon Cazimi

The Moon, ruler of the New Moon, is in the cazimi condition at the time of the New Moon, which highlights wisdom and access to divine knowledge, as well as events taking place in private. This also highlights the importance of spending time in places of sacred sanctuary for devotional work too, especially for rituals or practices that might relate to the goddess, to feminine deities and wisdom. With the hidden qualities of cazimi it’s a clue that some of the beginnings you might experience during this New Moon in Cancer might take place in private or that you might want to keep them to yourself for now.

Saturn and Neptune in Aries

The New Moon is in a separating square to both Neptune and Saturn, showing that this New Moon might help you slowly begin to move forward from recent restrictions, challenges, disappointments or even loss.

The square to Saturn is still kind of tight, right within the 3 degree marker that ancient astrologers identified as particularly potent, so while it’s technically separating, it’s possible that this New Moon has a Saturn thread to it. This can bring clarity around the limits that exist, even if they are limits or rules and regulations we might not like. The influence of Saturn might reveal the bounds of control or themes of restraint, and there may be resistance to that.

Since Saturn is in Aries in its fall placement, we’re not likely to see the best of Saturn and authority figures, but rather seeing some in positions of power operating from fear or desire to control and then the overreach or instability that springs from that.

And the square from the New Moon to Neptune is only a 2 degree orb, so again technically separating but still intensely close. Neptune’s influence can bring confusion or lack of clarity, as well as outpourings of emotion, especially for what feels like senseless for suffering. This might heighten compassion and bring strong feelings to the surface. Expect to be full of feeling – given the New Moon is in water sign Cancer and now Neptune’s sensitivity is in the mix too. With Neptune involved it can be tricky to sort fact from fiction and it’s also a time where overwhelm and uncertainty can emerge. So this can be a bit messy and oh so emotional.

So while this New Moon has lots of nourishing themes, it also has complexity and might bring a turning point around shared or collective themes, as the New Moon brings forward influences from Saturn and Neptune in Aries.

Jupiter cazimi

To briefly pop back to the cazimi theme, Jupiter will make its annual conjunction with the Sun on June 24, entering the cazimi condition. A planet cazimi is deeply invisible and operating in secret or out of sight. It’s undergoing a type of renewal or rebirth. It’s an interesting repetition of theme that Jupiter is cazimi so soon after entering a new sign, as if to say there’s a fresh approach to Jupiter coming through on a couple of levels.

Jupiter cazimi is Jupiter attuning to the wisdom and divine guidance of the Sun, kind of like receiving new instructions for the next 12 months.

Jupiter is already inspired by the highest ideals of justice, mercy, sustainability, shared wealth and protection and safety for all from its position in Cancer, and it’s as if Jupiter is now clarifying how to proceed with these noble goals in the year to come.

For each of us personally, the topics of the Cancer part of our birth chart are undergoing a series of renewals, upgrades and improvements, the seeds of which are being planted this week, between the Jupiter cazimi in Cancer and the New Moon in Cancer.

With both the ruler of the New Moon and Jupiter hidden for a while – the Moon for about 24 hours and Jupiter until about mid July using the standard 15 degree marker – what begins in private now might not be known about more widely for some time.

What dreams or longings or seeds you plant in late June will germinate out of sight for a little while yet, but you can be sure that the conception or the birth of the idea and dream has happened. The initial connections or links have been formed and the weeks and months ahead can be when these seeds will begine to grow and show their fuller potential.

So this last week of June brings a series of events – New Moons and cazimis – that speak of hidden beginnings and secret conceptions.

I’d love to know if you’re aware of the ideas, dreams or longing that are taking root inside you now – let me know in the comments below! Inspired by the scared secrecy of cazimi you might prefer to keep the thing itself private – which makes total sense. If so just share that yes you feel it!

Thanks so much for joining me – until next time, take care.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
