The Ping iDi irons have recently been added to the USGA Conforming List and the new 2025 model is set to be the successor to the iCrossovers.
While specific details about the iDi irons remain limited, their inclusion in the conforming list points to an upcoming launch of the long game irons in 2025.
The iDi irons are poised to complement Ping’s existing i-series lineup including the i210 irons, i230 irons, i500 irons, i525 irons and i530 irons as well as the Blueprint model.
The new released with replace the iCrossover irons as the go-to option at the top end of the back and we will bring you all the key info as more information becomes available.
Ping iDi Irons Specs & Design
While official specifications have not been released, the addition of the iDi irons to the USGA Conforming List has revealed the look of the new distance irons.
The Ping iDi irons have a clean look and are shown in the chrome clubhead to fit seamlessly into the same setup as many of the other i-series irons.
The iCrossovers had shafts that were a quarter-of-an-inch shorter to blend into existing sets and that is expected to be the case once again.
While the iCrossovers didn’t feature Ping’s weight saving notch on the hosel, the iDi does have it as shown in the image added to the Conforming List.
The clubhead shows that the irons will have a forged construction and feature a slightly different look to the clean rear of the head that we saw in the iCrossovers.
Other features expected to be part of the design are the EVA polymer filling for better feel, MicroMax grooves and a low CG.
The iDi irons are available in 2-iron, 3-iron and 4-iron options with confirmation of lofts of 17 degrees, 20 degrees and 23 degrees.
Ping iDi Irons Review: Are they any good?
The Ping iDi irons are expected to deliver consistent distance control and shot-making capabilities in the long game and build on the performance of the iCrossovers.
The feel and feedback at impact are anticipated to ensure that the iDi model can be used at the top end of the bag with any other Ping irons in a mixed setup.
We look forward to testing the new launch when it is officially released and seeing just how Ping have managed to improve their long distance irons.
