Hi Reader
Today I spent the day trying to juggle keeping my kids entertained while sneaking in a hot cup of tea (spoiler alert: it was lukewarm…again).
Between the constant “I’m bored” and the never-ending snack requests, it got me thinking…
What actually makes someone a great parent or carer? Like, is there a secret recipe?
Well, I’ve made a list. And I think it’s pretty solid—see if you agree:
1. Endless snacks
Hangry kids are never fun. I stock up on rice crackers, fruit, and enough baked goods to fuel a small army.
2. Infinite patience (or a convincing impression of it)
Trying to concentrate during WFH while someone asks “Why is the sky blue?” or “Where are my socks?” – Yep, patience is a superpower.
3. The ability to laugh when things go off script
Sometimes bedtime routines turn into impromptu dance parties—and honestly, those moments can be the best.
We all have days where the wheels fall off. But I reckon if you’ve got these three skills—you’re absolutely smashing it, Reader.
P.S. Since keeping kids entertained without breaking the bank is also a top-tier parenting skill, I’ve pulled together a handy cheat sheet of family-friendly activities and destinations offering discounts this month. Think of it as your go-to list for affordable fun! Download April 2025 discounts and deals here.
