The Libra-Venus-Pisces theme of this Full Moon accentuates qualities of peace, kindness, connection and compassion. Libra will add elements of justice, fairness, and integrity to this lunation period. Mars in Cancer is making a square to this Full Moon, bringing some emotionally charged and reactive energy. Emotional regulation and cooperation will be an important component to navigating this temporary volatility.

Show Notes
Hi There and welcome to today’s show!
We’re coming up on mid April which means I’ll be talking about the Full Moon in Libra, happening on the weekend of April 12 and 13.
This such a lovely Full Moon. There is a little edge to it, so I’m calling this the Bitter and Sweet Full Moon. It’s mostly sweet but there is a little bitter in the mix.
So in today’s show I’ll take you through the qualities and planetary influences active under this Full Moon.
Do remember that the energy of the Full Moon lingers beyond the day of the Full Moon itself, and influences the undertone of energy for about two weeks, until the next lunation.
So these Full Moon themes become active around the Full Moon and will continue influencing events and experiences until the New Moon in Taurus on April 27.
Before we dive in, I wanted to let you know about my new webinar, happening live on April 12 where I’ll be teaching on Ancient Timing. I’m going to take students through two accessible ancient timing tools – working with the minor periods of the planets and the ascensional times of the signs. If you’re curious to learn more about timing in astrology I hope you can join us! These techniques are likely easier than you expect – I say to students that if you can add and subtract you can use these techniques. You can sign up for the webinar via my website kellysastrology.com. If you’re listening to this after the 12th, you can register for the video recording and slide files to get all the info.
Ok so back to this gorgeous Libra Full Moon.
The Full Moon is at 23 Libra and is ruled by Venus, who is in Pisces. Straight away this invokes themes of peace and negotiation, and of consideration and compassion.
Libra is a sign focussed on fairness, compromise, integrity and justice so expect these themes to feature in your lives and in the world over this second weekend in April.
With the Full Moon being ruled by Venus in her exaltation sign of Pisces, there’s this sense of raising up or elevating Venusian and Libra themes. This might include honouring rest and soulful experiences, it might be about valuing support for those in need, it might involve caring for your feelings and heart, it might be about supporting the arts, including expressions of beauty and prioritising the chance for more pleasure and joy.
There’s more to say about Venus and this Full Moon, but before I do, let’s touch on the bitter influence of this Full Moon, which brings us to Mars.
Square to Mars
This Full Moon at 23 Libra will make a square to Mars at 27 Cancer. This square will peak around 6 – 8 hours after the Full Moon is exact.
This square to Mars is where the bitter or sharp edge of this Full Moon comes in. The Libra Full Moon, pushing for peace or consideration and fairness must negotiate with a kind of emotionally reactive Mars.
This Mars in Cancer might be considered a kind of pain point, like a hurt or tenderness that is often ignored. It might represent a complication in an otherwise sweet situation, one that requires careful handling.
A square to Mars does have a reactive and at times volatile quality. In this case with a Full Moon square Mars there may be angry bursts of feeling or reactive expressions of emotion, like blurting out about a perceived hurt or wound you’ve been holding onto. Or taking your pain out on someone close to you.
One thing a Moon square Mars aspect can help with is bringing hidden or unconscious emotions and reactions to the surface, to put everything out in the open.
It might be bumpy but at least no one is holding anything back anymore.
Being aware of what’s activating you or noticing what sets you off can help draw your attention to an unexpressed need, or remind you of a hurt that needs healing.
As Mars in Cancer stirs up some tender and uncomfortable feelings, and draws us back into old dynamics, there is great potential for healing and resolution.
You could use this Full Moon square Mars aspect to be bold about something you’ve been insecure about, or to advocate for something that needs more protection and care. It might be that you push for that discussion you know you need to have, even though it might be tough going.
Back to Venus
Now that we’ve touched on the bitter side of the Full Moon, let’s come back to Venus.
This second weekend in April is important for Venus for another reason as she will station direct and end her recent retrograde on the same day as the Full Moon.
So this Full Moon, which is ruled by Venus, also watches over a sky that is full of Venusian energy, as Venus will be especially bright in the morning sky, standing still as she shifts perspective and refocuses on the future.
Venus is hovering near Saturn in Pisces, as she has been all month. In fact as Venus stations she will now begin to get close to Saturn for the third and final time. That Venus conjunct Saturn meeting will occur on April 24, so watch that date as an important transition date in the days following the Full Moon.
Venus with Saturn offers a mix of qualities – it can bring clarity and realisations. It might highlight where dedication and devotion will be deserved. It can also help you understand something that may be coming to a natural end point.
Venus with Saturn can be a mix of renewed commitment as well as necessary endings.
These Venus conjunct Saturn themes can help stabilise events. They can also highlight the importance of quality over quantity. If you’re unsure, think less is more and opt for quality with people and priorities rather than being spread thin and not able to give your all to anyone.
So that’s a look at this mostly sweet but a little bit bitter Full Moon in Libra.
I’d love to hear how this Full Moon shows up for you – let me know your experiences in the comments.
Are you enjoying the sweet connections and enjoyment of the Full Moon ruled by Venus in Pisces OR are you working through something tender but necessary via the square to Mars in Cancer?
And if you are interested to learn a little about Ancient Timing, I hope to see you in the webinar!
Thanks for joining me, see you next time!
