Panlong Town – Mark x Abi

Having an exclusive mom-and-son time on our trips abroad is becoming a tradition for me and my 7-year-old son. As we were planning our itinerary, I put together a day trip with relaxing attractions because the last thing I want to happen is to be overwhelmed by a place.

While I understand that it cannot be entirely avoided (especially when you only have a couple of days in your hands), I try to balance it out with a breather in between.

Panlong Tiandi – Traditional Water Town in Shanghai, China

Panlong Town is a historically protected zone in Shanghai, China, that was once a famous base for manufacturing tube (homespun cloth). Panlong Tiandi is a beautiful district that combines a traditional water town with modern life, restored relics, and scenic spots.

It’s relatively quiet in the morning, but more tourists come at noon to grab the famous Blue Bottle coffee, Godiva chocolates, and other delicacies and souvenirs.

We planned to spend at least two hours in Panlong Tiandi, walking around its beautiful structures, breathing in its art and relaxing ambiance, and tasting some popular treats Shanghai, China, has to offer.
