Allison Rosati Returns to WMAQ After Illness

Allison Rosati made a return to NBC owned Chicago station WMAQ.

Rosati said she had been dealing with shingles and had been off the air for several weeks. The station said she was greeted with “raucous applause as she entered the newsroom.”

“I learned a lot on this journey. Healing takes time,” she wrote. “Laughter, and love are the best medicine. Don’t take your health for granted self-care is so important. Oh yeah and I’m getting a shingles shot as soon as I can!”

“I’m an ugly crier,” she said after the tribute. “It was so beautiful to see everybody’s faces. I missed everyone.”

Rosati returned for the 5 p.m. newscast.

She joined the station as an anchor and reporter in 1990, and was promoted to co-anchor of the 10 p.m. newscast in 1997.
