As they prepare to jet-set to the UK to hit the stage at one of the world’s biggest festivals –Glastonbury 2025 – Naarm/Melbourne-based EDM duo Close Counters have shared a nostalgic new slice of electronica dubbed ‘BUTTER BREAD’.
The track, which features guest vocals from Irish singer-songwriter Shiv, is a summery cut of broken-beat infused soul with silky bass lines and vibrant percussion, with lyrics about reminiscing on a better time.
Close Counters – ‘BUTTER BREAD’ Ft. Shiv
“This song is about looking back on a time that felt right – when love was easy and full of possibility,” Close Counters’ Allan McConnell explains of the song. “It’s nostalgic and reflects on the closeness that once was, but with an understanding that things have changed. There’s a bit of longing, but also a quiet appreciation for the memories that linger.”
The track marks the duo’s first new music since the release of their ARIA-charting independent third album, 2024’s LOVERS DANCE ACADEMY, which fuelled their recently-completed biggest Australian headline tour to date.
The next few months will see the group return to the UK/Europe for an extensive run of summer dates, including bucket list festivals Glastonbury, Love Supreme, Brick Lane Jazz Festival, Manchester Jazz Festival and more.
