Top 9 Must-Try Foods at Shanghai Disneyland – Mark x Abi

After memorable meals from our Disneyland Hong Kong trip, we believe that food at Disneyland is part of the experience. Because meal times require a lot of planning for families, we researched what to eat at Shanghai Disneyland Resort, along with rides and tips for families with kids.

Must Try Food in Shanghai Disney Resort

1. Pawpsicle (Zootopia). Iconic and perfect for posting, the pawpsicle from Zootopia was a fun treat. This paw-shaped ice pop was tart, light, and an interesting flavor. It is available in a vending cart around Zootopia for 45 RM.

2. The Big Donut (Zootopia). Another iconic Disneyland Shanghai food is the Big Donut from Jumbeaux’s Cafe. The cafe offers most of the Zootopia-themed treats, including the giant Jumpo-pop (chocolate-covered marshmallow) and the Big Donut. The Big Donut is a dense, cakey pastry covered with chocolate and sprinkles. You get disposable gloves to eat it! RMB 58 a piece.

3. Caramel popcorn. All that walking around the park will make one feel snacky. We remembered how much we liked the winter melon (?) popcorn in Disneyland Hong Kong, but it’s unavailable in Disneyland Shanghai. So we bought some caramel popcorn, and it’s pretty decent.

4. Crispy fried pork with rice (Mickey and Friends Cafe). For a proper meal, we went to Mickey and Friends Cafe. Our ticket included a meal voucher, and we agreed to buy different meals to try. The crispy fried pork rice was such a huge serving that we felt we could have shared a bowl.

5. Mala noodle soup (Mickey and Friends Cafe). This is a great option if you like spice.

6. Xiao Long Bao (Mickey and Friends Cafe). Most people who tried Xiao Long Bao at Disneyland agreed it was pretty good for a theme park meal. We do too.

7. Salted Caramel Mocha (Mickey and Friends Cafe). Get this creamy drink with your meal to wash out the tongue-numbing mala noodle soup. It’s nice and warm to prepare you to head out in the cold again. I wish there was a stronger caramel and mocha flavor without making it too sweet.

8. Linabell ice cream. What didn’t make sense for Asians such as us (who are used to 34c to 38c weather, so 16c is cold!), is how it felt good to eat ice cream even when it was cold. But this Linabell ice cream has a nice creamy berry flavor, so we didn’t decline when our son asked for another one.

9. Roasted Chicken (Mickey and Friends Cafe). End a whole day of 30,000 steps with a satisfying roasted chicken. You get a quarter of a chicken with other side dishes, and it feels like a homey meal after a full day of healing our inner children.
