The Best Haircuts for Summer 2025

Butterfly Layers

I still remember the day that the “butterfly cut” broke the internet. As Orth predicts, the movement-centered, shaggy style is not going anywhere soon. “It’s really soft, airy and feminine,” Orth says of the viral style. “It’s super versatile but especially flattering on oval, heart-shaped and square faces,” she says, explaining that the layers help to soften strong jawlines and highlight the cheekbones. Orth also finds that medium to thick hair is ideal for this cut to maximize volume. “It can work on finer hair too, but you’ll need to focus on styling.”

In terms of color, Orth says that butterfly layers work well with dimensional, highlighted styles. “Highlights and balayage really make the layers pop, especially warm tones like honey blonde and caramel,” she says. “Volumizing mousses and round brushes are your best friends,” she adds in terms of styling advice. “Texturizing sprays or dry shampoos add extra volume and hold, too, and blowouts or velcro rollers are great for that bouncy look.”

The Sculpted Bob

From Leslie Bibb to Vera Wang and Gigi Hadid, everybody is obsessed with a chic bob right now. Orth predicts the sculpted bob will be one of the season’s hottest shapes. “This is a modern take on the classic bob, with sharp lines and geometric angles for a sleek, polished vibe,” she explains. “Oval and square face shapes look amazing with this cut, as the sharp lines accentuate strong features.” In terms of hair texture, straight or slightly wavy hair, and fine to medium textures are ideal for this precise style. “It makes fine hair look thicker,” Orth adds. “Solid, rich colors like deep browns, blacks and vibrant reds really show off the sharp lines,” she says. When it comes to styling, a smoothing serum or oil works for sleekness and shine, a flat iron helps create that polished finish and a strong-hold hairspray maintains the shape. “It’s super fashionable and modern, with a really clean-cut style,” Orth says.

Side Parts

Yes, you heard us right—grab your middle school self and pat her on the back for being a trendsetter because the side part is so back, Labrecque says. “Looks with bold side parts will definitely be a big trend for summer 2025 haircuts,” Labrecque predicts. Whether it be the complement to an A-line bob or an addition to a ’70s-inspired shag, opting for a side part this summer will give you immediate it-girl status.

Curly Pixies

Continuing on the short hair train, Labrecque also predicts that short, natural-looking pixies will be popular this summer, with a specific focus on pixies for curly or textured hair. “Natural-looking pixies where we see the natural hair texture shine through will definitely be a trend this summer,” he explains. While he recommends having a diffuser and curl-enhancing products on hand if you opt for this chic, eccentric style, Labrecque also cautions that “on the curly pixie I would stay away from putting it on a long face, as the result could appear Q-Tip like.”

The Cup Bob

Another haircut prediction from the experts at Sola Salons, the cup bob is bound to be a hot commodity in the warmer months. Not only does the shorter style lend itself to a humid- and heat-friendly lifestyle, but the specific “cup” rendition offers a softer, more subtle appearance. The Sola Salons experts describe the cup bob as, “an ultra-precise, slightly curved bob that’s all about harmonizing structure and softness.” If you’re looking to experiment with a bob but don’t want something too severe, the cup bob is for you.
