Why is the glam wave bob hairstyle trending?

If you think the glam wave bob hairstyle looks familiar, you’re not alone. One of the reasons the style is trending is that it falls in line with many of the viral trends we’ve seen over the last year. Old money hair, the baroque bob and even the French girl wave bob all feature the classic cut with soft volume and luxe waves. These styles have a timeless elegance that never goes out of style and work at any age. They also offer versatility and can easily transition from day to night without extra work. Glam wave bob hairstyles feature all of these benefits and are also low-maintenance, in terms of styling, so you don’t have to be a pro to achieve the glamorous look.

How to get the look

The glam wave bob is a master class in effortless styling. It doesn’t take much to recreate and can be done with just a handful of tools and products. Olivia McDowell recently provided the perfect tutorial with just three steps. She began with straight hair, which can be achieved by blow drying or using a flat iron depending on your preference. Once the hair is straight, she curls sections with a flatiron before adding velcro rollers. The trick here is to use a mix of sizes and only curl the top of the head, keeping the bottom half of the hair straight. This adds body and ensures the curls look soft instead of voluminous. For chin-length bobs, medium-sized rollers will work best. Remember, the goal is to achieve waves, not volume.

Working your way around the head, curl each section and add rollers. Once you reach the front where you want the side part to be, swap out your medium roller for a large one. Then let them sit for about 15 minutes. Gently remove the rollers and comb through the curls with your fingers to loosen them up a bit. The next step is crucial for creating the glam wave look. Using a small comb, position the curls to fall softly around the face and smooth down any flyaways. For additional shine and frizz control, add a small amount of hair oil to the top of the hair and sides of your curls.
