Featured Experts
1. The Jawline and Lower Face
Morpheus8 is famous for sculpting the jawline, reducing jowls and tightening the lower face. According to New York plastic surgeon Elie Levine, MD, “The jowls and neck respond beautifully, making this one of the best treatments for early signs of aging.”
Miami dermatologist Deborah Longwill, DO, agrees, adding, “It’s particularly effective in areas where skin laxity, fine lines and textural irregularities are most noticeable.”
2. Under the Chin and Neck
Tech-neck is real, and so is the crepey skin that comes with it. Duxbury, MA plastic surgeon Christine Hamori, MD, notes that the submental area (under the chin) is one of the most responsive spots for Morpheus8, delivering “significant fat reduction and skin tightening.”
3. Mid-Face for Acne Scars
While Morpheus8 is not commonly used to tighten the cheeks due to concerns about fat loss, it is effective for treating acne scars and improving skin texture in this area. According to Dr. Longwill, “Morpheus8 is highly effective for tightening the cheeks, reducing jowls and improving overall skin texture and tone. Patients with acne scars can also benefit significantly from treatment on the cheeks and jawline.”
4. The Abdomen
Post-pregnancy skin laxity? Weight loss sagging? This is one of the most popular treatment areas for Morpheus8. Dr. Levine says, “There are so many parts of the body that may benefit, but the abdomen is especially great for tightening loose skin.”
Dr. Longwill adds, “Patients with stretch marks also see improvements in texture and firmness over time.”
5. The Upper Arms
For those dealing with skin laxity above the elbows, Morpheus8 is a great option. Dr. Hamori says, “The upper arm, just above the elbow, is a fantastic spot for skin tightening.”
“It’s great anywhere for crepey skin,” adds Houston plastic surgeon Olga Bachilo, MD.
6. Above the Knees
The knees tend to betray our age before we realize it. Dr. Hamori says, “The anterior thighs and the area just above the knees respond really well to Morpheus8. It helps with crepey skin and gives a smoother, firmer appearance.”
Dr. Bachilo frequently treats this area, saying, “It’s great for skin laxity on the abdomen and can help with some stretch marks.”
7. Inner Thighs
Sagging skin in the inner thighs can be a challenge, but Dr. Longwill says Morpheus8 works well. “It’s great for smoothing out crepiness and improving skin quality.”
8. The Backs of Thighs
Morpheus8 isn’t just about tightening; it can also help smooth out cellulite. “It helps with skin laxity, dimpling and cellulite, making the skin appear firmer and more toned,” says Dr. Longwill.
9. The “Bra Fat” Area
That little fold of skin that peeks out from under a bra strap? It’s a surprisingly popular area for Morpheus8. Dr. Levine says the pre-axilla (the area near the armpit) responds well to treatment. “One has to assess for skin laxity. In addition, I determine if the issue is skin or skin and fat-related. If it is both, some combination of radio-frequency energy combined with liposuction may be better.”
10. The Décolleté
The skin of the chest is often one of the first places to show sun damage and signs of aging. Dr. Longwill says Morpheus8 is a great fix for improving texture and fine lines in this area. “It helps tighten loose skin and improve texture,” she says.
Where Not to Get Morpheus8
Too Close to the Eyes
While Morpheus8 can help with under-eye wrinkles, Dr. Bachilo warns against treating too close to the eyes. “The skin here is delicate, and the treatment can cause significant bruising.”
Over the Thyroid
Dr. Longwill advises against treating directly over the thyroid gland (front of the neck). “We avoid this area to prevent any unintended effects on thyroid function.”
Bony Areas Like Hands and Shins
Some areas just don’t have enough soft tissue to cushion the treatment. “The hands and shins don’t respond as well because there’s not enough fat,” explains Dr. Longwill.
On Darker Skin with Non-Insulated Needles
For patients with darker skin tones, Dr. Bachilo warns about risks that can cause damage to the skin. “Almost anyone is a good candidate for this treatment, but I would not treat anyone darker than Fitzpatrick type III with non-insulated needles,” she explains. It’s important to use the right technique to avoid depigmentation and possible scarring.
