Avengers #64 (2003) – Earth’s Mightiest Blog

This story features Falcon. He meets with Agent Gyrich, who expertly “handles” Falcon. Sam Wilson doesn’t trust the agent due to some of his actions, in the past, by Gyrich. In turn, Gyrich reminds Falcon of his own criminal past and subsequent redemption (he got his wings from Red Skull, who hired him to assassinate Captain America). They reach an understanding.

But then, at the end, Gyrich turns over information about The Avengers to SECDEF Rusk (who later will be revealed as Red Skull).

This is a well-written, quiet episode that shows some excellent spycraft by Agent Gyrich.

Along the way, Falcon foils some attempted deviltry by Scarecrow.
