Open Call: 2024 Design Residency on Governors Island
Register/Submission Deadline: Friday, April 12, 2024

“The Institute for Public Architecture is now accepting applications for the 2024 Summer and Fall Residency programs, taking place June 1–August 17 and September 3–November 17, 2024 respectively. Spend eleven weeks living and working in a collaborative environment within a landmarked building in the midst of New York harbor. Emerging and mid-career architects, urbanists, landscape architects, designers, and those committed to the public realm in all disciplines are invited to apply. Applicants will bring their own interests and projects to the program.”

Newhouse Architecture and Design Competition
Registration/Submission Deadline: Friday, April 12, 2024

“CAC is excited to celebrate 42 years of showcasing the talents of Chicagoland high school students solving real-world architecture and design challenges. […] Named after the late Illinois Senator, Richard Newhouse, this competition allows students to practice design thinking and 21st-century skills like creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. It inspires teens to understand why design matters by researching, representing and redesigning the built environment to solve challenges that are communal and place-based.”


Ghost Project 2024 “MICROCOSM”
Registration/Submission Deadline: Monday, April 15, 2024

“The Ghost Project 2024 theme, ‘Microcosm,’ encourages designers to explore the potential of small-scale interventions. From the overlooked corners of urban landscapes to the intricacies of objects we use in our daily life, there is a wealth of untapped potential waiting to be unleashed through clever and witty micro-improvements that may appear modest in scale but with the potential to make a substantial impact on sustainability, social equity, health and wellbeing, urban resilience, and much more.”


The 5th Goldreed Industrial Design Award
Registration/Submission Deadline: Sunday, June 30, 2024

“As an international, professional and market-oriented industrial design award, GIDA has collected 28,212 excellent design works from 82 countries and regions around the world over the past four years, and has awarded a total of 18 million RMB (2.5 million USD) in prizes. The influence and popularity of the awards have been increasing globally.”
