ABC Radio Sydney has unveiled changes to its presenter line-up, with journalist Hamish Macdonald to take on the Mornings show from Monday.
An award-winning journalist, Macdonald is a co-host of the Radio National podcast Global Roaming and The Project on Channel Ten and has also filled in as a presenter on Radio Sydney’s programs in recent years.
He has also reported from conflicts in Afghanistan, Libya and Ukraine and covered uprisings in Egypt and Hong Kong.
“I hope listeners will be able to count on me to hold the pollies and the powerful to account, upholding the great traditions of 702,” Macdonald said.
“There’s so much to talk about this year — and where better to do it from than the heart of this great city, Parramatta Square.
“Sydney is such a dynamic city with no shortage of great stories to share, so I’m really looking forward to opening the phone lines.”
Macdonald has regularly presented with the ABC since 2016, including stints on television with Q&A and Radio National Breakfast.
The Mornings show was previously presented by Sarah Macdonald, who hosted the show for two years.
In November last year she revealed on-air that she would not be returning to the station in 2025.
ABC News Channel presenter Kathryn Robinson will present the Mornings show each Friday.
Robinson, who has been presenting on Radio Sydney over summer, will begin broadcasting from January 31.
Dom Knight will present the Drive show on Fridays and the Saturday Mornings show.
Knight, a founding member of The Chaser, is a regular voice on ABC Radio Sydney and previously presented the Evenings show from 2012 to 2016.
Chris Bath, who was announced as the new Drive show presenter in November last year, will take up the microphone from next week. Bath will present the show from Monday to Thursday.
Bath takes over the reins from long-time Drive presenter Richard Glover, who finished up in the role after 26 years at the end of last year.
Sunday Mornings will be presented by renowned science and technology journalist Rae Johnston.
The Wiradyuri and Greek woman created and presents the Weird Tech podcast and will also present Radio National’s Download This Show podcast in 2025.
Johnston has also presented on TV for ABC’s Back Roads and NITV’s Going Places With Ernie Dingo.
