Finding a corner house is always a high prize – but instead of two roads, this Gold Coast house sits at the corner of a river.
Whether it be Gardiner Creek or the pool, the home at 14 Biggs Pl, Southport, has a view of water from every single room. It, along with four other properties, make up five of Queensland’s best homes up for sale this week.
Vendor Rebecca Beeton spent two years building the home for her family of six, designing it to feel like a family home in an ostentatious neighbourhood.
“We come from the Northern Beaches in Sydney, and there’s a certain type of house style that I love,” she said. “It was important for us, having four boys, that the house could be lived-in but not look out of place.”
The house sits on 1,196 sqm of land and 60 metres of water frontage, by a creek regularly visited by dolphins.
“It’s beautiful, clear, shallow water – we often have a white sandy beach when it’s low tide,” Ms Beeton said. “You often see fish and stingrays passing by.”
With two storeys, dozens of rooms and its own tiny jetty, the home is prime family living in a location few will ever experience.
An auction will be held for the home on December 7, with Robbie Graham of Ray White Prestige Gold Coast.
32 Isaac St, Spring Hill
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 32 Isaac St, Spring Hill, is an architectural gem right in the heart of Brisbane.
Named the ‘Spring Hill Enviro-Cottage’, this home is being offered on the market for its first time since its construction.
The home’s design blends a Queenslander worker’s cottage with its own unique flair, employing huge corten steel screens that shield from the heat and create shadow patterns across the home’s rooms.
An open-plan living space encourages natural light and wind, with a two-storey house and a separate pavilion with its own private master suite.
With barely a walk to take you to the CBD, the home combines convenient and prestige living right at the centre of city life.
Agent Samuel Angus of Ray White New Farm is holding an auction for the house on November 30.
28 Gweneth Rd, Peregian Beach
The six-bedroom, six-bathroom home at 28 Gweneth Rd, Peregian Beach, is a chance at relaxing acreage property on the Sunshine Coast.
Right next to the vast Lake Weyba, the house has a 5,116 sqm estate for new homeowners to enjoy. Bedroom spaces in the renovated home are versatile: ranging from potential studios in the separate garage area to a nursery in the upper level, right next to a bedroom with an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe.
Outside sits a pool, a playground, swing, bench, firepit and garden, giving all members of the family plenty of space to be themselves.
The house is also a short trip to Peregian and Noosa Main beaches, making this tranquil location as accessible as it is spacious.
Richard Bowen and Heath McOrist of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty, Noosa, are accepting offers for the home at this time.
29 Glencairn Ave, Indooroopilly
The owners of the five-bedroom, three-bathroom house at 29 Glencairn Ave, Indooroopilly, fell in love with the place from continents away.
Living abroad in 2021, the Covid pandemic prevented vendors Craig and Sarah Mounsey from seeing the property in person. But the views of the home by the Brisbane River were enough to convince them to buy it all the same.
“That was a big part of the reason we bought its house: its location.” Mr Mounsey said. “The ease of the routine … the kids’ access to the school.”
The house is a very short drive from five schools, along with the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus. It made for the perfect place for Ms Mounsey to renovate, modernising the home’s amenities atop its 921 sqm block.
“The interior was done fantastically by Sarah,” Mr Mounsey said. “All those little final finishes that make it so different, so unique.”
An auction will be held for the home on November 16, with Matt O’Neill and Peter May of Place Graceville.
65-69 Main St, Montville
The five-bedroom, three-bathroom property at 65-69 Main St, Montville, is a slice of hillside paradise with a truly spectacular view.
Homeowners can admire the hinterland views from the wide entertainer’s deck, or enjoy the natural light across the two storeys, with two large bedrooms available on each floor.
But for people who want to get a little further away, the loft provides an extra space: a four-bed attic retreat, for those looking for quiet sleepovers in a truly breathtaking location.
Designed and made by renowned architect Edwin Codd, the home has an acre of landscaped property to enjoy, and a minimalist design that makes the house stand right out among the trees.
