The second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, subtitled The Book of Carol, is officially complete. However, the journey back to the United States will continue in Season 3.
Officially, the third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will not debut on AMC and AMC+ until 2025. However, after the Season 2 finale, AMC Networks dropped the first teaser trailer for Season 3. The teaser highlights the change of scenery that will be put on display in the new episodes after Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) leave France with the new season being filmed in Spain. It’s also looking like there will be new challenges that await, but Daryl and Carol will be taking them on together. The teaser can be watched below.

As they struggle to find their way back, the path takes them farther astray, leading them through distant lands with ever-changing and unfamiliar conditions as they witness the various effects of the Walker apocalypse.”

“I can’t really talk about Season 3 because we’re in the middle of doing it. [Grins] But stay tuned,” director Daniel Percival told CBR about the future of the show after the Season 2 finale. “Yes, that absolutely was the plan [to end the season with just Daryl and Carol]. Most of the season is the journey to their reunification. Then, in the last two episodes, they were unified. We have no intention of breaking that union.“

On if Season 3 will also consist of six episodes, he added, “There’s this constant discussion about how many we order and how many we can deliver. That continues with this season, too. We set out to make 12 episodes [total for Seasons 1 and 2], if that makes sense. And we made 12. Now we’re elsewhere, having the same conversation.”
The third season will be executive produced by franchise boss Scott M. Gimple alongside series showrunner David Zabel, Reedus, McBride, Greg Nicotero, Brian Bockrath, Angela Kang, Jason Richman, Dan Percival, Steve Squillante, and Silvia Aráez and Jesús de la Vega from Ánima Stillking.
