Last year, Spider-Man was briefly infected with the sins of the Green Goblin, which turned him into a dark and twisted version of Spider-Man. At the end of that story arc, Osborn sacrificed his own newfound purity to rid Spider-Man of the sins. That, of course, has slowly but surely sent Osborn back to becoming the Green Goblin. However, in Amazing Spider-Man #50, we discovered that there was still a trigger left in Peter’s mind, and he has now been activated, and turned into the Spider-Goblin! The only person standing in his way is his own clone, Ben Reilly, now known as Chasm. Their fight takes place in next week’s Amazing Spider-Man #52, which you can see in this CBR exclusive preview.
Amazing Spider-Man #52 comes from writer Zeb Wells, artists Ed McGuinness, Todd Nauck, colorist Marcio Menyz, and letterer Joe Caramagna, and picks up from where last issue left off, which saw Spider-Goblin practically destroy the SInister Six on the orders of Norman Osborn. Kraven the Hunter had procured the staff that had originally held the Sins of Osborn, but when he tried to use it to cure Spider-Goblin, it didn’t work, since Peter doesn’t have the sins in him anymore, this is just a sort of brainwashing.

Meanwhile, former Obsorn intern, Kamala Khan, hasn’t been able to contact Peter Parker, her former Oscorp colleague (that she knows is Spider-Man). She called up Osborn, and after tricking him, she realized that whoever she spoke to claiming to be Norman Osborn clearly wasn’t the REAL Osborn, as the Green Goblin has taken control of Osborn’s body (Khan doesn’t know that for sure, of course, she just knows that whoever she spoke to wasn’t the real Osborn, as she referenced how he used to let her call him “Mr. O,” which he never actually did).

Peter Parker was a photographer for many years, but was he considered to be a good photographer?
In the preview pages (besides the cool Ed McGuinness cover, which homages Todd McFarlane’s iconic Amazing Spider-Man #300 cover), we see Kraven the Hunter marvel at the battle between Spider-Goblin and Chasm. Ben Reilly, as Chasm, has been more of a villain in recent times, but since he knows what is wrong with Peter, he is moved to try to help…or not, he really isn’t sure yet. However, as you can see in the preview pages, he’s at least now committed to this fight, which Kraven senses will be to the death.
Back as Oscorp, Kamala has arrived to poke into things, and that does not please the Green Goblin. How will he react? Who will win the fight between Spider-Goblin and Chasm? These are all things you can find out next week, when Amazing Spider-Man #52 is released.
