How To Counter The Rousseau Gambit As White

Today I’d like to show you how to refute one of my favorite chess openings, the Rousseau Gambit. It is a variation of the Italian Game that arises after the following moves: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 f5.

The Rousseau Gambit is one of the most aggressive openings for Black against the Italian Game. Nevertheless, today I’ll show you how to counter it as White. You will also learn the most common attacking ideas for White, the typical responses of Black, and some deadly traps.
